Offering (June 2020)
watercolor on paper
22” x 15”

In my current body of work, I am often framing small moments of individuals' public expression - gestures that are at once quiet, almost unnoticeable, and at the same time powerful and poetic. In Offering (June 2020), a great sycamore has fallen in a neighborhood park after a storm, seeming to echo the police killing of George Floyd and the subsequent racial reckoning that has followed. A passerby has left a bouquet of flowers inside the broken trunk.
