Fallen Sky

A video installation by Beryl Odette
with sculpture by Sarah Tortora
June 21 to July 7, 2024
Opening reception: Friday June 21, 6-8pm

Taking a cue from Chicken Little’s classic warning that the sky is falling, Beryl Odette’s new video work literally turns the sky upside down, purposely reflecting the present day chaos of our world. Odette places the sky on the floor, offering us a meditative, if temporary, means to disconnect.

In the front of the gallery, Sarah Tortora’s sculptures function
like fragments of language and punctuation, contingent upon architecture and context to elaborate a larger narrative. They are installed site specifically at 601Artspace in conversation with the space, the viewer, and each other.
