Evening of Performance

In conjunction with our current exhibition, 601Artspace is pleased to present performance from Neil Goldberg and Las Hermanas Iglesias.

Friday, December 11th, 6-8pm

6pm - Neil Goldberg performs One Version of Events

One Version of Events is a solo performance about the strangeness of being alive in a body, especially of our need to eat. Part artist talk, part stand up, the piece combines videos, photographs, and drawings with autobiographical narratives, cultural speculations, and scientific inquiries that collectively examine our complicated relationship to the corporeal nature of our existence.

7pm - Las Hermanas Iglesias perform Competitions

In 2008, sisters Lisa and Janelle Iglesias started their ongoing Competitions project, in which they face off against each other in amateur contests both conventiona and absurd. So far this project has existed as a private exchange between the two artists, documented and exhibited as video and still images. This will be the firs time Las Hermanas perform a competition with a live audience. Staged as a rematch, the sisters will compete in a collaged sequence of actions that reference family dynamics as well as game shows, beauty pageants, and sporting events.
