Blue Yard 2020Venetian plaster , pigment, graphite on panel 16”x16”
2020 will go on record as a lost year, a sentiment so many of us universally feel worldwide. The time of isolation brought a humble inward point of view, narrowing my scope to the things around me for inspiration. I developed a stronger connection to the house I was sheltering in. The building, the plants, the hill behind, the perimeter of the yard. I examined the footprints of the house and measured the yard around it. Out of the visceral experience of that time came a group of paintings, each of which created a dialogue with a single element.
