Please join us at 601Artspace for a panel discussion with Speed of Stone exhibiting artists Catherine Telford Keogh, Athena LaTocha, and Michael Wang, moderated by curator Jess Wilcox. Speed of Stone presents works that explore Geology, minerals, Earth health, and time scales at the limits of human comprehension–from the origins of Earth to the potential end of humanity. Each of these artists use materials and processes that reflect Earth’s geological transformations–erosion, accretion, and molten movement, among others—and touch on the idea of deep time. They will discuss how they work “in the field,” the ways that Geology informs their practice, and what rocks can teach humans in the face of accelerating climate change.
