This is a story about control

Care / Condition / Control Closing Party
Saturday, April 26th from 6-8pm
601Artspace, 88 Eldridge Street

Music and hair go hand-in-hand with creative expression and resistance to systems of oppression—the prophetic prose of Gil Scott-Heron’s The Revolution Will Not Be Televised; the defiance of Nirvana’s Teen Spirit, The Slits’ Typical Girls and Bronski Beat’s Smalltown Boy; the revolutionary power of Woody Guthrie’s This Land is your Land and N.W.A.’s Straight Outta Compton; the anthemic triumph of Aretha Franklin’s Respect, Kendrick Lamar’s Alright, and Chappell Roan’s Pink Pony Club.

Music and hair also spark kinship, joy, and celebration, building spaces of community and intimacy. In this spirit, we invite you to join us for the closing celebration of Care / Condition / Control.  The evening will feature DJ sets inspired by the show, open mic shares from exhibiting artists Jarrett Key, Meryl Meisler, Calli Roche, Trish Tillman and more, followed by karaoke and dancing.
