SUNY Old Westbury, 2020, pigment prints, paper, acrylic paint, thread, 21 x 20 inches

I teach at SUNY College at Old Westbury, now remotely. The building pictured is on campus, which is now a makeshift hospital. In my image there are no people. The colors are disorienting, the grass is purple, the curtains bloody red, The shell is upside down. The shell is an exoskeleton, as we have a skeleton, memento mori. The peach and beige are the colors of my skin, and of the shell. There are folds, and holes cut in the skin. Holes that speak too of photographic apertures, human vision, and slippery perception.
