40 Rubber Gloves, 2020, video, sound, images: David HamburgerThe individual images were shot about 15 days into the NYC P.A.U.S.E. I hadn't been outside for a while, and when I finally went for a walk I noticed the discarded rubber gloves all over the streets. While the social distancing necessitated by the health crisis has lead to an incredible resurgence of nature in some instances — cardinals and blue jays returning to people’s back yards — it has also lead to an increased use of some of the more hazardous elements to our environment. All occurring as the current administration continues to roll back environmental regulations while we are all distracted.
